The Centre for China-Africa Policy

China has effectively returned to the centre of the world system. Beijing’s re-entry into the world stage is re-defining the future of global power. It has also been a game changer for Africa since the formation of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in October 2000 as an official platform to strengthen Sino-Africa relations.

The Centre for China Africa-Policy is working with African and Chinese pundits and scholars in piecing together the latest available evidence of political, economic, military, social and cultural connections between China and the African continent to argue—and rightly so—that Sino-Africa relationship predates Western colonization.

Our research presents data that enables policymakers in countries along Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) corridors to make evidence-based assessments of how to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks of participating in the BRI. The research also aims to inform the public debates surrounding on China Africa Relations and Belt and Road Initiative, by grounding the discussion in data and analysis.
